13th October, the first day of Flipkart’s mega sale – ‘Big Billion Days’ turned out to be the best day for Myntra, the biggest online retailer for fashion in India by selling around 5 Lakh units.
‘Big Billion Days’ the most anticipated sale hosted by Flipkart will run for 5 days till 17th October. Other rivals – Snapdeal and Amazon – too are having their own respective sale during the same period.
According to Ananth Narayanan, CEO of Myntra, 13th October was the largest single day ever for Myntra in terms of app installations, GMVs and orders. It was a record day for the fashion e-tailer in all these areas by selling 5 Lakh units and receiving around 2 Lakh orders. On the first day Myntra saw four times increase in the app installation and GMV jump up to 6 times over the base line.
The company’s supply chain and back end is also working better than expected according to Narayanan. Mytra has increased its warehouse staff and tied up with more logistics partners.
Whereas, Amazon India said that 13th October, the first day of ‘The Great Indian Festive Sale’ was the biggest day in history of the company and further claims that the second day has broken all the records by shipping around 60% of the orders within 6 hours on the second day.
