Snapdeal to accept credit cards for cash on delivery customers

Snapdeal is all set to simplify its pay on delivery service by accepting payments through debit or credit cards along with cash for its pay on delivery orders.

For this, Snapdeal delivery staff will be equipped with special transaction machines (POS) through which card payments will be transacted. Currently, this system is available in 120 cities including Darjeeling, Gorakhpur, Chandigarh, Kanyakumari, Hisar, Ooty, Ajmer, Aligarh, Agra, and Ajmer and is likely to extend to more cities in the future.

The reason behind this solution is to simplify the payment collection process as most customers request for second round of delivery or lack of cash or change when accepting deliveries.

This solution has been developed by its logistics partner, GoJavas in which Snapdeal recently picked up a minority stake. Also, Snapdeal is likely to witness 10x growth in a couple of years implying handling 90 – 100 million deliveries on a monthly basis.

As stated by Snapdeal, it is likely to spruce up it delivery strategies by investing more than Rs. 1000 crore by the next financial year, if ecommerce India shows positive signs.
