Khyati Madaan is a Senior Manager – Digital Marketing at Red Chillies Entertainment.

We connected with Khyati to get an understanding about what it takes to work in the fast-growing digital marketing world and how she keeps up with the pace of this digital industry.

Here’s a glimpse of how her day looks like.

  1. How does your normal working day look like?

There’s no typical day at work for me; each film marketing campaign is unique and challenging in its own way and so are the respective work days. Some days are thrilling, some exciting, some fulfilling and some even stressing. But usually I wake up to a mug of steaming coffee and my phone. A quick swift-through my social media feeds and newspapers gets me a daily dose of tech & entertainment updates before I go and face the world.

The key role at work is to plan the film’s digital campaign in sync with the overall marketing strategy. Briefing the agency, strategising social media plans, going over key social metrics and listening reports, sharing feedback reports with management, collaborating with external partners and planning the digital media buys are some of the key responsibilities that I manage.

My late evenings are usually spent networking and catching up on new film releases.

  1. What are the most helpful tools according to you that help you get the job done efficiently?

Social media performance tracking and listening tools are the ones that work out the best for me during a film campaign. The performance and feedback on our assets helps tweak the marketing communication not only on digital but across marketing verticals.

  1. How did you get into digital marketing? What do you love about your job?

Honestly, it was more of an accident than a plan. While pursuing my PGDM at IIM, I developed a statistical box office model to predict box office openings of Hindi films. This model proved to be a 95% success, which inspired me to get into film marketing. My first job happened to be at a digital marketing agency. Since I was good with numbers, I started out with analytics and then worked my way up to a full-fledged digital marketing role.

Being a film lover, what I love about my job is that I get to live and breathe films up, close and personal! Furthermore, Red Chillies Entertainment as an organisation encourages collaboration, innovation and creativity that brings out the best in me.

  1. Tell us about your hobbies? What do you do to unwind from the busy working life?

I love films, traveling and meeting new people. You would see me either inside a movie hall or catching up with friends, colleagues or industry professionals! So either way I never switch off.

  1. Any advice for people who want to get into this dynamic digital marketing space?

Digital marketing is not rocket science, just be open to learn and stay updated!
