Snapdeal, the most popular ecommerce company in India, is now tying up with a mass of retailers to make them a part of omni-channel strategy that aims to bring in high number of footfalls.

According to the Kunal Behl, Co-founder and CEO of Snapdeal, 99 percent Indians still prefer to shop offline as they want to touch and feel the products. This can be achieved only if they encourage offline shopping. Therefore, omni-channel strategy will focus on making offline retailers more successful by providing technology and logistics.

The plans are expected to be rolled out in next two months. To help small local retailers go online, they are working on building India specific software platform. This platform will enable consumers to find a specific brand or product in retail stores within the vicinity of the consumers. Consumers will get their products delivered from neighborhood stores once they order it online. With online guidance they can also buy it directly. According to Behl, going online to offline will be the future.

The retailing business in India is estimated to be worth $600 billion which is dominated by 12 million mom and pop stores.
